Kids Worldwide Bridge
The Kids Worldwide Bridge (KWB) is a branch of the Rural Integrated Development Program of Africa (RIDPA). Prior to the 20th century, childhood was not viewed as a special and distinct part of a person's life. Rather, it was merely a transition stage, bridging the time between infancy and adulthood. Children were required to work as soon as they were old and strong enough. They would either help their parents with household and farming chores, or they would learn a trade. As countries have become wealthier, "childhood" has become a time for education, recreation, growth, and discovery.
However, despite these advnces, childhood remains a period deprivation and hardship for many children, particularly those in the world's developing countries. Despite a universal commitment to fostering the rights of children, major problems remain which impact daily on the lives of children.
> In the last decade, an estimated 2 million children have been killed in armed conflict.
> 100 million children live on the streets of the world's cities.
> 1 million children worldwide have been born HIV positive.
> 12 million children die each year before reaching the age of 5, mostly from malnutrition and preventable diseases.
> Prostitution and the trafficking of women and children for prostitution is the third largest income earner globally, following drug trafficking and arms sales.
> Every day, 1,000 children die from AIDS.
KWB provides an opportunity for children of the world to connect so they may discover and learn from other cultures. KWB strives to create understanding, tolerance, and awareness. You can help by sponsoring a child in the Democratic Republic of Congo or Tanzania. |

Maestro Miguel
My goal is to bring alive the teaching of Spanish for my students. For many years now I have had a very productive and satisfying time working one-on-one with students, teaching them not only about the mechanics of Spanish but also inspiring them about the treasures, mysteries, and, yes, sometimes drawbacks of a very fascinating yet complicated culture. Part of the mystery is that students indeed learn Spanish. Please contact me or check out my website for more information. |

Nuevo Mundo Translations
I am a freelance translator born in Bogotá, Colombia. My expertise stems from my work in the field of advertising primarily as a copywriter. Upon moving to the United States ten years ago, I wanted to expand on that background and started working in translations. My passion is working with words. Translations shouldn’t be just moving a word from one language to another. It is essential to bring out the true meaning and how it is being said.
As a small business, I have the flexibility to meet varied requests and deadlines from large projects to quick turnarounds. I have done commercials, informational videos, store ads and training manuals to name a few. I am also a member of the American Translators Association. |
