Twin Cities International Citizen Awards May 2002 Dear Friends of International Activities in the Twin Cities: The Twin Cities International Citizen Awards is on a new course. The Awards have been an informal joint project of the Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, and the Counties of Hennepin and Ramsey. Our goal has been to increase awareness of the many worthy international activists and their organizations in the Twin Cities. We have presented 50 individual awards (some jointly to couples who worked together) and 3 corporate awards since 1992 for outstanding contributions to international understanding, cooperation, friendship, and development by Twin Citians.
A local organization committed to international work has offered to continue the work of the Awards. It is the International Leadership Institute (ILI). This offer comes at an opportune time as budget considerations make it challenging for local government to continue this worthwhile endeavor. Please contact the ILI's event coordinator, Coventry Cowens (612/822-7184 or coventry@uswest.net) for more information. We hope that you will give serious thought to nominating outstanding Twin Cities international citizens for the recognition of this Award. Now the Awards will also honor the achievements of immigrants to the Twin Cities area. Please mark your calendars: Twin Cities International Citizen Awards 2002, October 24, Radisson Riverfront Hotel in St. Paul. Sincerely, Katie Fournier Anne Briseno |
